Where to get more details on malaria

World Health Organization (WHO) site on malaria contains information primarily for doctors and researchers, but also contains material that would be of interest to the general public, including fact sheets and press releases.

The Malaria Foundation International site provides all kinds of information about malaria, including a public discussion site.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is a US government health department site with an area devoted to malaria, which provides very good background information for the traveller.
